| Day 1 Meet guide on arrival at Tripoli airport and transfer to
city centre hotel for two nights.
Day 2 Visit the centuries-old grain store of Qasr al-Haj
and the hilltop store/citadel at Nalut. Continue to Ghadames
for four nights. |

Day 3-5
Ghadames Festival. Enjoy the music and dance of this exciting folklore
festival in the World Heritage Site of Ghadames
on the edge of the Sahara desert. Visit the old town with its labyrinthine
passages and take lunch in a traditional house. Late afternoon excursion
to see the sun set over the sand dunes. Day 6 Drive to
Kabaw to see the fascinating fortified grain store. Continue to the
abandoned village of Tormisa with its stunning views atop an
escarpment. Continue to Gharyan to visit a troglodyte home and the pottery
centre. |

| Day 8 Sightseeing tour of Tripoli including the
excellent National Museum, the Arch of Marcus Aurelius and the medina with
its souks and mosques where lunch will be taken.
Day 9 Excursion to the grand
Roman city of Sabrata and the Janzour catacomb
museum with its tomb paintings. Return to Tripoli.

| Cyrenaica Extension
Day 10 Fly to Benghazi in eastern Libya. Visit the site of ancient Berenice, Umar al-Mukhtar Street, Freedom Square and the Souk al-Jareed. |

Day 11
Visit the Greco-Roman cities of Teuchira
(Tocra) and Ptolemais (Tolmeita). Continue to
Cyrene for two nights. Day 13 Morning visit to the ancient city-port of Apollonia. In the afternoon, visit the basilicas of Ras al-Hilal and Al-Atrun. Day 14 Return to Benghazi via the eerie funerary temple at Slontah and the mosaic museum at Qasr Libya. Flight to Tripoli. |
